Institutes

The Prince Claus Chair was established by Utrecht University and the Institute of Social Studies.

Utrecht University

Utrecht University is a research university comprising of seven faculties which collectively span the entire academic spectrum in teaching and research. Founded in 1636, the University is now a modern, leading institute enjoying a growing international reputation.

Utrecht University offers a broad range of 46 undergraduate and 196 graduate programmes, the latter including many English-taught programmes. There are almost 30,000 students at Utrecht University and 8,600 members of staff. Every year, more than 2,000 international students and researchers stay in Utrecht for variable periods of time.

International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam

The International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam is a postgraduate school for policy-oriented social science activities including interdisciplinary research, practice-oriented teaching and capacity building in the field of development studies.


 Founded in 1952, the Institute is one of the world’s leading centres of research and higher education in this field. Over 10,000 students from more than 160 countries have studied at the International Institute of Social Studies
of Erasmus University Rotterdam.
