Appointment Atul Kumar

Indian climate researcher Atul Kumar appointed holder of Prince Claus Chair

The Indian climate researcher Atul Kumar has been appointed holder of the ‘Prince Claus Chair in Development and Equity’ at Utrecht University. He will hold the chair for the next two years and will conduct climate research in collaboration with Utrecht University researchers. For the two years of his appointment, Prof. Atul Kumar will work closely with Prof. Ernst Worrell, who is affiliated with Utrecht University’s Faculty of Geosciences in his capacity as Professor of Energy, Resources and Technological Change. Kumar’s expertise will be a valuable contribution to climate research at Utrecht University. He is expected to hold his inaugural lecture on 23 March 2011 in the Academie Building (Academiegebouw) in Utrecht.

Atul Kumar

Born in 1977, Kumar is a Fellow in Modelling & Economic Analysis at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi, India. He is conducting research into how renewable energy technologies might be employed to reduce global CO2 emissions. The young scientist already has 11 years experience researching climate change, energy policy, energy-system technology and combating climate change through a sustainable lifestyle.
