Appointment Stella Quimbo
The Curatorium of the Prince Claus Chair in Equity and Development has appointed Stella Luz A. Quimbo from the Philippines as the new holder of the Prince Claus Chair 2011/2013. In her academic work, she focuses on Public Health, Health Economics and Development. Stella Quimbo will be based at International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam from May to July 2012.
Stella Quimbo (1969) obtained her PhD in Economics in 2000 from the School of Economics of the University of the Philippines (Diliman, Quezon City). After spending a year as a post-doctoral fellow at Brown University in the US (Providence, Rhode Island) in 2002, she took up her current position as professor at the School of Economics of the University of the Philippines. Stella Quimbo has published widely on topics such as insurance design, provider incentives, equitable access to health care and health care demand, as well as child nutrition and cognitive development.
