Queen Máxima hands over Chair of Prince Claus Curatorium to Louise Gunning-Schepers

Her Majesty Queen Máxima stepped down as Chair of the Curatorium of the Prince Claus Chair on Tuesday 20 May 2014. Professor Louise Gunning-Schepers has taken over the reins as the new Chair of the Curatorium.

Her Majesty Queen Máxima will continue to be involved with the Prince Claus Chair in her new role as Patron.

Both the outgoing and the incoming Chair attended the inaugural lecture of the current holder of the Prince Claus Chair, professor Jumoke Oduwole, on Tuesday 20 May 2014. During an informal dinner following the inaugural lecture, Her Majesty Queen Máxima symbolically handed over an African staff to the incoming chair, professor Louise Gunning-Schepers and wished her success in this challenging position.

Her Majesty Queen Máxima had been Chair of the Curatorium of the Prince Claus Chair since it was established in 2003.

Professor Gunning-Schepers is president of the Executive Board of the University of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.  She is an expert in the field of public health and holds a number of ancillary positions, including a position as a crown member of the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands.
